What is the future of Healthcare?

Healthcare in the world today is changing more rapidly than we realize. With these changes that are occurring, poses the question "What does the future hold for the health system?".  We currently see different views with the future leaders of this country with the Presidential Election that spark interest in the general public.  A big part of what can be the answer for the future is the high need for leaders to administer and overlook the improvement of health throughout the world. 

I grew up always having a passion to help other people. There is nothing more satisfying in life than being in the service of those around you. I remember thinking as I grew up wondering how I can contribute to the community I live and be a part of something that gives me the satisfaction of knowing that I am doing something good. 

Last year, in the beginning of my Junior year, was when I was introduced to the idea of Healthcare Administration. I did some research to find out more of what it entailed. I was amazed to see the diversity of what executives can do in the healthcare setting. The American College of Healthcare Executives list some of the many settings that executives can work in, such as:

* Ambulatory care facilities

* Consulting firms

* Healthcare associations

* Home health agencies

* Hospices

* Hospitals and hospital systems

* Integrated delivery systems

* Long-term care facilities

* Managed care organizations (such as HMOs and PPOs)

* Medical group practices

* Mental health organizations

* Public health departments

* University or research institutions

My goal through this blog is to help others out there that are thinking about this field. I want you to  look within the tools that I have found to help you understand the opportunity that can come with this field. Any Healthcare professionals that can contribute by the voice, giving me additional resources/advice, and discussions would be great. I think a great deal of this blog is for me to learn from you. 

Again the question comes........What is the future of healthcare? Many of us that go on to pursue this field will be a major part of the answer. Thank you in advance to all that help make this site a success.
